Welcome Student!
I am pleased to have you in the course. Let's keep in touch. I welcome phone calls, emails and texts from students. I would much rather be called after hours, and sort out a concern or answer a question than have something go amiss.
This course has 4 main units, Research & Inquiry, Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology. We finish off with a student focused multi media conference that integrates all four units connected to a topic of interest.
There will be some regular unit assignments and tests throughout the semester. There will also be two larger "projects" that we will be working on. The field research practicum is in the first unit and work on a research paper will begin in the second unit and will carry on into the third unit. Both of these projects will include i) exploring ideas and formulating questions ii) investigating and gathering information iii) processing and analyzing information and iv) communicating information.
How to be most successful...
Stay on top of assigned work, attend as often as you can and be present and focused in class. Make good use of work periods in the lab or library. Cell phones are welcome in the classroom and can be used as an excellent learning tool, however to maintain a focused learning environment, when not in use, you will be expected to have your phones at the top right hand corner of your desk.
Let me know if I can provide additional support by getting in touch with me.
